First Impression: Specialized Tarmac SL N+1

We sneaked some information out of the Morgan Hill R&D offices to offer you these initial details on the new Tarmac SL N+1, which as of now does not yet have an official release date.

At a distance, the SL N+1 is aesthetically similar to its predecessor, but upon further impression you can notice the squovalized seat tube, more egg shaped downtube, min-max carbon layup in the rear stays.  This altogether gives the bike the appearance of the previous SL had it been left out in the sun and began to droop a bit--tubes are curved, and headset and bottom brackets do not match any others in the industry. The new SBB30OS (presumably the Super BB30 Over Sized) still carries the 30mm spindle of previous iterations, but like previous iterations decides to march to the beat of its own drum, or unit of measurement and changes the bottom bracket configuration just a bit to make it incompatible with every other bottom bracket ever made.

Naturally, specialized is touting their new SL N+1 as more than 10% lighter, 28% stiffer, more aerodynamic and capable at extracting an extra 15% from your checking account, though these are internal numbers and are yet to be corroborated. No huge surprises here, but we're excited for the product date of the SL+1 presumably sometime in March+1.
